Paynes Prairie

There's a place in swampy north central Florida where wild horses frolic with butterflies in the afternoon sun. The wide expanse of midnight sky sparkles with diamonds and the moon seems close enough to touch.

Our Paynes Prairie earrings were inspired by the biologically and historically unique preserve located between Gainesville and Micanopy, Florida. In addition to wild horses and butterflies, Paynes Prairie is home to over 20 distinct biological communities, including alligators, bison and 270 species of birds.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Josh's Hearts on Fire earrings are almost as pretty as this love poem by William Butler Yeats, my favorite poet...

When You Are Old

When you are old and gray and full of sleep,
And nodding by the fire, take down this book,
And slowly read, and dream of the soft look
Your eyes had once, and of their shadows deep;

How many loved your moments of glad grace,
And loved your beauty with love false or true,
But one man loved the pilgrim soul in you,
And loved the sorrows of your changing face;

And bending down beside the glowing bars,
Mumur, a little sadly, how love fled,
And paced upon the mountains overhead
And hid his face among a crowd of stars

Give a Hoot, Don't Pollute

Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It's not. ~Dr. Seuss

Not cool news: The world sets ocean temperature record; the resulting ocean heat is already harming threatened coral reefs.
When you read a devastating headline, such as this recent one, it is easy to get discouraged and to feel like you can't make a change by yourself. When you care deeply about our lakes, rivers, oceans, animals and all other natural wonders, you may want to do all that you can to make a positive impact, but don't know where to start.

Saving the planet starts in your own home. Make it a priority to save energy, recycle and reduce your footprint on the Earth in little ways, every day.
Stop Global Warming has made a list of ways in which you can respect Mother Earth:

Oh, and there is no reason why you can't look good while saving water, separating your recyclables and painting your bedroom with no-VOC, non-toxic paint: rock a pair of Josh's Give a Hoot, Don't Pollute earrings and show your love for all of the Earth's creatures.

If you care enough about the environment, you can make a difference. You can.

Set Your Style Free

Sinatra said it best - "Come fly with me, come fly, let's fly away..." Release your unique fashion sense from its gilded cage, and celebrate your one-of-a-kind style through clothing and jewelry.

Josh's vintage-inspired "Come Fly with Me" earrings call upon the sophistication of the 1930s and 40s and will appeal to those with an appreciation for the finer things in life. Delicate pink and blue glass beads are reminiscent of antique crystal, while the cream-colored ribbons add a touch of innocence to the pieces. Glamorous fresh water pearls, which pay homage to those that classic screen sirens wore, drip off the bottom, while clear crystal and long black beads add layer-upon-layer of detail. Antique-looking gold-tone birds perch at the bottom, ready to set you soaring to new fashion heights.

Lights, Camera, Earrings!

Josh's latest earring design was inspired by my obsession with the classic film "Sunset Boulevard." His 10,000 Midnights Ago earrings pay tribute to my favorite lines in the movie, which are spoken by Joe Gillis:

"The whole place seemed to have been stricken with a kind of creeping paralysis, out of beat with the rest of the world, crumbling apart in slow motion. There was a tennis court, or rather the ghost of a tennis court, with faded markings and a sagging net. And of course, she had a pool - who didn't then. Mabel Normand and John Gilbert must have swum in it ten thousand midnights ago, and Vilma Banky and Rod La Roque. It was empty now, or was it?"

These hauntingly beautiful earrings, which are made with gold-tone moon charms and blue faceted glass beads, conjure up memories of walking along moonlit paths, beneath a blanket of stars.
